The unranked of the Hearthguard, the unbled who have not seen the battlefield are the Thrall. Freemen of no military rank who have not endured the blood ceremony.

Once a shieldkin has seen battle, by blade or bandage they are a Hearthguard, the majority of our forces and the backbone of the army.

Hearthguard forces are divided into units called fists which consist of five to seven fighters.The second in command of a fist is a Drengr. Boots on the ground officers who look after their own and are responsible for not only their own men,but reporting local issues to their Huskarls.

Fanriks are responsible for larger companies of two to three fists and serve as command to their Huskarks and report to their Thanes.

Thanes are the second in command of an Jarldom and report directly to their Jarl. They are seasoned military tacticians and advisors to the leaders of the three Jardoms.

The three Jarls are commanders of their battle groups and lords of their jarldoms. They serve their Queen and their people.

The Queen is the ruler of the Hearthlands and commander of its army and people.
