• Queen Tove

Queen Tove served for years in the ranks of the Hearthguard, fighting her way up through the ranks with skill and ferocity. After Duke Killian joined the Knights of the Order of Luminos, Tove took over command of the Hearthguard as Jarl and turned this powerful fighting force into a group of warriors loyal only to themselves, and to herself. With the Hearthguard’s separation from Olaran and the establishment of the Hearthlands, Jarl Tove became Queen. Once the back-bone of the Olar army and now a nation, our shieldkin follow Tove’s commands, making her one of the most influential military leaders on the continent.

Tove has been as cunning as she is bold and is revered for her skills in diplomacy, which are said to be as sharp as her sword.

  • Jarl Tagelia Sigurdson

The Sigurdson family comes from Lannock in the southern reaches of Olaran - a minor noble house with a dragon crest, they were once vassal to Duke Killian Staghunter. Tagelia (or “Tag” as many call her")’s father, the Baron Sigurdson, had seen many years of bloodshed at the border and swore fierce loyalty to his lord, the Duke of Lannock (who fought and knew the threats in the south as other nobles did not). In her youth she trained with the Rangers at the borders and witnessed the murder of King Osiric at the famed Autumn Feast. In the early years of the Hearthguard, when the elite soldiers of Olaran served directly under the Duke, her father swore her sword to serve their liege lord to uphold honor of her father and house.

Tagelia served loyally in the Hearthguard for many years as a passionate supporter of both Duke Killian and her own family. She served in the expeditions in Ithacus for the Sword of Hope and was one of the few shieldwall survivors at the Battle of the Fort, betrayed by Rangers she once trained and fought with. Shortly before the First Battle of the Thornwood, when Duke Killian willingly abandoned his adherence to the Old Ways and took up the vow of the Holy Order of Luminos in order to save himself, Tag (along with many Hearthguard) felt betrayed by the cowardice of her leader. This choice of Killian’s, however, also stripped Tag of her vassal-ship to her former lord that had been made in her father’s name.

Consumed by her rage and loss, she forsook any vow to ruler and house, and swore to only hold allegiance to her shieldkin - those she has fought and bled with. As the Hearthguard fought for land in the following years, she devoted herself as Valkyrie, leader of the Furies, and as a commander of the mighty shieldwall.

But the founding of the Hearthlands was a fresh beginning, built on a new oath to serve her queen and her people. Newly crowned, Queen Tove named three jarls to lead the Hearthlands in her name. Tagelia was given the  Lannock Lowlands, her family's homeland who they once served vassal for. Jarl Tagelia now divides her time between building trade and commerce in Lannock and overseeing troops at the fortress of Bash Tiar.

  • Jarl Jorran Karlson

Jorran hails from the highlands northwest of Lannock in the foothills of the Fire Mountains. He traces his bloodline straight back to the first men who crossed the Coldfell and conquered the lands that would become Olaran, driving out the Golthans during the Time of Heroes. Like all highland farmers on the Golthan border, Jorran has never known peace. Among the Hearthguard Jorran has served as Duke Killian’s personal guard, fought in the Dread Company under Bjorn the Dreadhelm, bore the banner of Hearthguard champion, and commanded the shieldwall.

Battle Commander, Lord and Protector of Murnock, Jarl of the Midlands. Friend of bears, lover of dragons, former champion, Dreadhelm, and Bloodcloak. His castle in Murnock is known as The Rock of the Mines. His house sigil is the Rampant White Lion on a Red and Black. The Karlson family words are “Iron and Blood”.

  • Jarl Gamble Audolfson

Jarl Gamble is known by many through all the lands of Adrasil. He is lord of mischief, master of the shield, con artist, rune master, and blood cloak. He is one of the few original Hearthguard who stood with Killian when he still held the title of Duke, before the Hearthguard called themselves this title, one of the original shieldkin who truly earned the name of bloodcloak from the lives lost on the field.

Hold on to your bloodcoin when he is near, but no matter how vigilant you’ll find yourselves fleeced anyway. When Queen Tove named her three jarls, Gamble was given the Fire Mountains, where he gathers mystics and shamans and leads his people in the old ways.

  • The Shaman/Questmaster

The shaman is the religious leader of the Gothi and source of knowledge for the old gods. Grim Bjorndraugr, as he is known to some, serves as the keeper of the gods and voice to the signs and omens many shieldkin see in the world.

Grim serves as the Hearthlands questmaster.

  • The Ambassador

Golthan Ambassador Malchus al’Darwish seeking aid from the Hearthlands in the Golthan civil war.

  • The Steward

After the Battle of the Wold Wood in YL1123, Hrægammr the Steward took up residence in Staghunter Keep after Duke Killian was banished henceforth from the Hearthlands. Positioned in Tagelia’s Jarldom in the Lowlands, his previous life as a scoundrel has provided him with connections that have made him incredibly wealthy through war-profiteering and leveraging his political station to seize control of most smuggling and black market dealings in and out of the Capital in Lannock.

Hrægammr was discovered to be the bastard son of Killian Staghunter. As a means to humiliate the former Duke and perhaps even goad him, Hrægammr was given the name Staghunter and the empty and landless title of Duke. The peoples of the Hearthlands rebelled against this act, and Hrægammr stripped himself of his rank and position and left the Hearthlands in search of further proof of his birth and legitimacy.

  • Meadman

Perhaps Adrasil’s most beloved and well known brewer. Affectionately called Meadman amongst the Hearthguard ranks, this fine purveyor of goods is also known for errand quests and other such mistchief.
