Fjellslanger Fist, known as The Mountain Serpents, is an elite light infantry unit from Riverhold, nestled in the rugged Boxrock Channel beneath the Fire Mountains. Operating under Thane Kjartan as part of the Fjellkrieger skirmishing arm, the Serpents often partner with allied Fire Mountain fists like Fjellulvene to harass and break enemy lines. Founded by Bast the Beautiful and his second, Leofric of Hailing Cove, the unit has grown from bonds of brotherhood between displaced Lowlanders and Mountain-born alike. Because of this, the Boxrock Channel has become a forge for warriors of dual heritage: utilizing both traditional shieldwall formations of the Lowlands and unorthodox warfare tactics from Fire Mountains. Fjellslanger thrives in terrain where speed and precision outmatch brute force, specializing in ambushes, flanking strikes, and rapid assaults. Though capable of locking shields when needed, their strength lies in striking hard and vanishing before the enemy can respond—coiling like serpents before striking again.

Fjellslanger warriors wear light, practical gear adorned with sprigs of white mountain flowers as part of a preemptive funeral rite—using the natural flora as a symbol of both mourning and fate, warding off misfortune as well as preparing the warrior for the illustrious halls of Val-Noran should they fall in battle.

The Fjellslanger sigil is the Snake King, a Triskele entangled in serpents consuming each other.

The one now called ‘The Beautiful Bast’ cast aside his old name as an act of penance. Seeking atonement in the promised halls of Val-Noran he offered himself in service to the Hearthlands. Glory was earned, but death was not—and in the silence that followed, he despaired, believing the Old Gods had turned fully from him. Then came gentle whispers, not to his ears but to the hollow of his heart. Now guided by a divine voice of truth unspoken, he serves as a fervent zealot, certain that true redemption lies just beyond what others may dare to call heresy.
